The Child Opportunity Zone Family Center initiative of the Rhode Island Department of Education is a program that targets high poverty communities with a full-service-Community-schools model to strengthen education, health and social services for students and their families.  The COZ has been in existence in Cranston for over 20 years.

Cranston Public Schools receive supplementary federal funds for Title I Programs that are part of the “No Child Left Behind Act” 2001. They ensure “highly qualified” teachers for all students by requiring all teachers to be State Certified for the grade level and subjects in which the teacher is providing instruction.
